Caribbo in Bonafide: The Real Deal

Caribbo killed it in a jam-packed Club Bonafide (NY) last night . Jazzy, almost romantic pan, all the way to frenzied tribal syncopated rhythms had patrons either move gently, bust a move or throw their hands up in the air as in a religious experience.

Caribbo is a relatively “new” musical concept created by internationally acclaimed Surinamese musicians Harvey Wirht (drum) and ATN Stadwijk (keyboard).
A swinging elevation of the typical tradional Kaseko & Kawina beat enhanced with other Caribbean ( Calypso/ steel pan) influences.

Hall of Fame inductee, Andy Narell ( steel pan), Philip Hamilton ( vocals & percussion) and Gregory Jones ( Acoustic Bass) perfectly blended their skills into the Caribbo concept.

Steven Blue (Rutu) on “Hari” and Xaverio Narsingh Narsing ( Dutchy) on “Koti” , both members of the local Kaseko/Kawina band “Body & Soul”, flawlessly provided the traditional Kawina percussion.
